My Profile

Kelechi Okoro is a multi-talented and versatile Medical Doctor with an impeccable track record in civic and entrepreneurial activities does a lot of work beyond the walls of the hospital. She is a Sustainable Development Goals advocate, with a focus on SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing. She is also a public health enthusiast, health communications expert, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Advocate, humanitarian and a digital media strategist.

She bagged her MB; BS from Imo State University, Nigeria in 2014. She interned at 445 Nigerian Air Force Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria in 2015 and afterward served under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Kogi State Government House Clinic, Lokoja, Nigeria in 2016. Due to her meritorious service at her place of primary assignment and community development service, she was retained at the Government house Clinic.

During her Youth Service year, she initiated the “Hep Free Zone” project, a Hepatitis sensitization, screening, and vaccination exercise in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. She has served in numerous administrative capacities in different organizations and societies over the years, including the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) where she served for 2 years as Chairperson, Health and Environment Board.

She is the convener of the “Healthertainer” brand, a social enterprise committed to promoting health literacy globally. The brand has recorded massive successes in effective health communications and generative active participation and engagement among people, towards beating NCDs in Africa and the world at large. She is Nigeria’s foremost health influencer who has created a niche for influencing healthier decisions among Nigerians through her unique way of delivering health information. She has worked with notable international brands such as MTN, TECNO, Three Crowns Milk, Leadway Insurance, Dettol, GSK, Roche Diagnostics, just to mention a few.

She is the founder of HEAL for Africa initiative, a Non-Governmental Organization  “committed to transforming Africa one community at a time. The organization’s aims and objectives are in line with Sustainable Development Goals 3: No Poverty; Zero hunger; Good Health and Wellbeing; Quality Education; Gender equality; and Clean water and sanitation.
The organization hosts regular events – “Heal The Slums”  ‘ Pay Attention To Her” and “Hep Free Zone”.

The Heal The Slums project serves as an outreach to children and families in under-served communities, providing them with food items, medical services, school supplies, and scholarships. Over 1500 children, men and women from under-served communities have benefited from this program.

The Pay Attention to Her project educates young girls and women in the rural areas on sexual health, menstrual hygiene and self-awareness, as well as a donation of free sanitary pads and personal hygiene materials. So far, over 2000 beneficiaries from under-served communities have been recorded from this program.

Kelechi currently works as a physician in the Kogi State Government House Clinic, Lokoja.

Outside the hospital and civic space, she also does public speaking, compering and volunteering for worthy causes. Organizations she has volunteered for include Tiny Beating Hearts Initiative, Dual Care and HIV prevention Initiative, Folasade Ayoade Initiative for Widows and Orphans, Project Pink Blue, MedicAid cancer Foundation, Mentally aware Nigeria Initiative, among others

She is a recipient of several prestigious awards including the “100 Most Inspiring Women Award” by Leading Ladies Africa.
